Who's coming with me?

she asks, ala Jerry Maguire.

I've been meaning to extend a wide open invitation to everyone and anyone. Write a novel in one single month, with tons of support, in the company of fellow writers. It's fun! And hard. And truly a great way to get the first one over with if you've never written a novel before. It's goes so quickly, the self hate and doubt is postponed indefinitely! (Also known as December.)

...

Sign Up Here. Now. Please?

...

What you'll receive:

A novel.
Fifty thousand words.
In thirty days.
Endless cups of coffee.
A short break from blogging.
The love and respect of A. B. Chairiet.
A certificate, should you finish.

I'll poke you with a stick and make sure you finish!

Me and BB and JVS...we're going to light fires and write novels and get published and be famous!

Why not join us?

Good luck to the three of you, and everybody else doing that this November.

As much as I'd like to sign up for the novel (gasp!) I might just need to sign-up (in an unofficial way) for a short story. Time and life is against me, as ever. I will send my mini-me effort to you for comment at the end of the month. Not to spook you out but I think it will be about the South (as viewed from a European imagination). The lead characters will be called Ella and Jim. They will have a nice life. Lemonade, sun and ice lollies. It will not be a depressing tale - not even slightly. (happiness is the new sad, you know)

If I entered NanoWrimo...I would have to destroy myself. For there can only be one ring...forged from all others...and only one may posess it. Oh...and the fact that I can't spell worth a sh*t.

I miss you, Ash. And your lil Robot too.

Thanks Daibh.

Ash, I'm scared now. I didn't know signing up meant I'd actually have to do it. I just don't have the words. Perhaps.

Directed by Cameron Crowe, husband of Nancy Wilson, guitarist in Heart, a great band from the US....that's my feeble contribution to the comments. Sad really.

umm..err..give me a plot idea? :)

i had one idea..but ive heard msot authors first books are semi-autobiographical, and i didnt want to fall into that trap.

i already had my title, "dead bees"..which soundsmorbid, but basically it simply came from the fact that i used to go to this country club with my father and we would play tennis about 1 or 2x a week for a long time, and there were often dead bees on the court. which seemed weird, and i just thought it sounded kinda cool.

that said..i have no plot.

i did have one other idea about me being this incredible loser for a variety of reasons..called something like "confessions of a slacker/loser..." etc.

but again, i dont have a true idea.

so good luck!

I am so tempted to come along. BTW, I love your site. I just found you, so I hope you don't run off on me!

Don - Don't worry. Ash is kept chained up at a undisclosed location in the South. So, she might leave but not for long. Maybe long in cyberspace but not in real life. If you enjoy this blog, there's more where the dead are. OK - just kidding but if you want to read some of her previous posts, try her dead blog at: http://pluckmydaisy.blogspot.com/

(the link is over there on the right that says "The Dead Blog") There's some amazing stuff in there.

Heidi

P.S. ABC - apparently I thought I would become your personal publicist for a minute???? Sorry about that. I can't help it --it was the Jerry Maguire post ;) I might not be coming with you (a NOVEL - uhhh...right), but I'll be cheering :) or publicizing ;) or both :)

Heidi: This comment of yours made me smile a big and much needed smile. :)

I love your words and kindness.

Thank you times a million for being my personal publicist. :)

And a wonderful friend to me, the selfish gal chained up somewhere in the south. ;)

Ha. I'm coming home to J-Town before November. And to you and the curtain we once hid behind.

I sincerely hope you're well. :)

...

The "real" Don Steele: I don't even know you, and already I am intrigued by you. :)

With a name like the "real" Don Steele...Yes. I promise I won't run off on you.

I'm glad you found me.

Thank you for loving my site.

...

Josh: Give you a plot idea?? How 'bout man loses job, and his mind...wanders the streets, the woods, goes to the ocean and finds someone to talk to. She wears black high heels, and they go swimming.

The end. ;)

(Sigh)

I don't know...just close your eyes and write...tis much easier than plotting. :)

"i had one idea..but ive heard most authors first books are semi-autobiographical, and i didnt want to fall into that trap."

Well, look where it got Frank McCourt. :)

"i already had my title, "dead bees"."

Oh, I love that!! Reminds me of To Have and Have Not..."You ever been stung by a dead bee?"

Very sexy.

I think you could do a lot with that title. People playing tennis. Dead bees. Though they can sting you just as bad as live ones. Plastic. The Graduate. People at Country Clubs.

There are metaphors upon metaphors just waiting to be written. :)

...

Jasp: Not sad at all...I love Cameron Crowe and his films, so any mention of him makes me smile. :)

Thank you.

...

Jemima: Just now noticed you changed your name...I like it. :)

For the longest time, I simply called you JVS.

Jemima, though, makes it more personal and real. :)

As for NaNoWriMo: Don't be scared, sweetheart.

Tis only a challenge.

You CAN win. :)

...

Bathroom Hippo: Spelling is irrelevant while actually writing. Plus, that's what spell check is for.

I'm sorry you miss us. We're right here.

...

W. A. Fading: "Time and life is against me, as ever."

I'm so sorry.

I hope it gets better.

"I will send my mini-me effort to you for comment at the end of the month."

Whenever you're finished, send it along...I loved those other short stories, and will gladly read, and comment with the utmost honesty.

"Not to spook you out but I think it will be about the South"

Why would that spook me? Writers should write whatever their heart's desire. Whatever inspires you.

Plus, I am not so easily spooked. ;)

Best of luck with time, life, and the short story.

...

Mentok the Mind-taker: I like it too.

...

Daibh: I wish you'd join us! But I understand...

...

I hope everyone is well.

Happy Friday!
Love,
~ Ash
